If
there is somewhere an actual building housing a Sandwich Hall of Fame, we know
two things for sure. First of all, we
really, really want to go there! (Who wouldn't?)
Secondly, one of the biggest exhibits
must be devoted to the bánh mì, one of the all-time sandwich greats due to its
unique blend of different flavors and cultural influences. The bánh mì comes from Vietnam, but it
reflects the influence of the French colonists who had occupied this country
prior to the Vietnam War. SUSAN OLAYINKA AND TASTING TABLE

Max Jacob, after spending his childhood in Quimper, Brittany, France, he enrolled in the Paris Colonial School, which he left in 1897 for an artistic career. He was one of the first friends Pablo Picasso made in Paris. They met in the summer of 1901, and it was Jacob who helped the young artist learn French. Later, on the Boulevard Voltaire, he shared a room with Picasso, who remained a lifelong friend (and was included in his artwork Three Musicians). Jacob introduced him to Guillaume Apollinaire, who in turn introduced Picasso to Georges Braque. He would become close friends with Jean Cocteau, Jean Hugo, Christopher Wood and Amedeo Modigliani, who painted his portrait in 1916. He also befriended and encouraged the artist Romanin, otherwise known as French politician and future Resistance leader Jean Moulin. Moulin's famous nom de guerre Max is presumed to be selected in honor of Jacob. https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/1522991.The_Dice_Cup
Three Musicians is the title of two similar collage and oil paintings by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso. They were both completed in 1921 in Fontainebleau near Paris, France, and exemplify the Synthetic Cubist style; the flat planes of color and "intricate puzzle-like composition" echoing the arrangements of cutout paper with which the style originated. These paintings each colorfully represent three musicians wearing masks in the tradition of the popular Italian theater Commedia dell'arte. Each painting features a Harlequin, a Pierrot, and a monk, who are generally believed to represent Picasso, Guillaume Apollinaire, and Max Jacob, respectively. Apollinaire and Jacob, both poets, had been close friends of Picasso during the 1910s. However, Apollinaire died of the Spanish flu in 1918, while Jacob decided to enter a monastery in 1921. One version is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City; the other version is in the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Frank Drake, famous for pioneering the modern-day search for extraterrestrial intelligence, died Sept. 2, 2022 at his home in Aptos, California. He was 92. Drake established the methods still used today by those who hope to prove the existence of alien societies. As a result, Drake was an astronomer known to just about everyone. After all, his search for radio signals coming from two nearby Sun-like star systems, playfully christened Project Ozma, is covered in most astronomy courses. https://astronomy.com/news/2022/09/frank-drake-creator-of-the-drake-equation-and-project-ozma-dies-at-92
